COUNSELING (ADOLESCENT) DRUG TESTING
($30 TO $45 PER TEST)
Counseling tests are designed to be very sensitive and provide reliable information regarding drug use for counseling purposes only. These tests are not suitable for legal purposes. Chain of Custody procedures are not used and identity of the subject is confirmed by the laboratory only in cases in which DDL collects the specimen.
Precautions are taken in the collection of the sample (see SPECIMEN COLLECTION) when the laboratory does the collection. Specimens are also accepted which have been collected by parents, counselors or others and delivered or mailed to the laboratory. These tests can also be done anonymously.
DDL has a mailer container to facilitate outside collection and shipping to the laboratory for testing. The testing panels include all the drug classes of typical drug testing plus others such as MDMA (ecstasy). The testing sensitivities are equal to the CHILD CUSTODY testing.
GC-MS confirmation is not done except to confirm the presence of Amphetamines (Methamphetamine, MDMA) which is plagued by false positives from over the counter cold remedies. GC-MS testing can be performed if needed at additional charge ($75). Single (EIA)assays may also be done for $30.
THC (marijuana) testing includes comparative analysis when previous testing has been done to provide information about the history of use of the individual. Since THC may be detectable for weeks in addicted users, the comparative analysis will track the trend of levels over time. Contact the laboratory to obtain mailers.
