Random Call Program Protocol
Calls are conducted randomly and may occur 1 or more days apart at the
discretion of the Random Call Administrator. An average of 2 calls per month over
3-6 months is recommended. An individual may be contacted 3 or 4 times in one month
and none in another but the actual number will be limited to the average over the extended
period of time. Calls will be made between 8:00AM and 7:00PM. The individual
agrees to be available to receive the calls and to appear at the lab within
hours of the time of the contact.
Individuals are contacted with discretion. Messages are left at
the numbers provided without disclosing the company name, unless specific permission is
obtained from the test subject to do so. The response time limit begins once direct
contact has been made with the individual. "Reasonable" amount of time
given to individuals to respond to indirect contact will be determined on an individual
basis and will be at the discretion of the Random Call Administrator. Under no
circumstances will an appearance in excess of 24 hours past the agreed response time be
acceptable involving these indirect contacts.
Advisement of test subjects' unavailability to receive calls and appear
for drug testing (i.e. out of town, etc.) is the responsibility of the test subject.
All such advisement is documented and discoverable. Special arrangements may
be made by the individual with DDL to appear outside normal DDL business hours (9:00AM -
5:00PM). "NO SHOW" letters will be issued when the Random Call is
initiated, when reasonable attempts to contact are made, and when no response is obtained
within a reasonable time or within the agreed upon response time limit. It is at the
discretion of the Random Call Administrator to determine when a "NO SHOW" letter
is justified.
The Random Call Program is designed to provide evidence of drug use or
non-drug use and/or cooperation or non-cooperation of the participants. DDL's role
is nonpartisan. DDL reserves the right to refuse to provide the Random Call service
including "NO SHOW" documentation or specimen collection and testing, under
circumstances which are unreasonable, harassment oriented or equivocal. The
determination of any such circumstances is the sole discretion of the Random Call
Administrator.
The cost is $75.00 (USD) per test which includes alcohol,
methamphetamine, cocaine and metabolite opiates (codeine & morphine), marijuana and
PCP. This is zero tolerance testing therefore is only limited detection and
identification sensitivity of the GC/MS confirmation technique, not by any designated
"cutoff" levels. In other words, if a drug is present in any amount which
can be specifically identified by GC/MS, it will be reported as present. Other drugs
or drug classes may be included upon request.
Testing must paid for in advance of the program beginning or before any
random call is made. Testing fee is not refundable once the call has been made.
Specimen collection will require the individual to bring a valid picture I.D. or
provide other means for specific identification (such as distinctive scars or tattoos).
Samples are collected according to DDL's chain-of-custody protocol. In
addition, other precautions are taken by DDL staff to preserve the integrity of the
specimen. All reports (written or otherwise) will be issued only to the
individual(s) listed on the Random Call Consent Form or on the Requisition/Consent Form.
All of this information may be discoverable.
